7 Things You NEED in Your Freshman Dorm

The biggest game changers when it comes to dorm life.

Being on you're own for the first time is strange. When I first moved into my dorm I had no idea what I needed or how I was going to live on my own. But I did it, and I loved it, and I now know what you need. The list contains a few items I bought before moving into my dorm and used way more then I thought I would, or things my roommate and I bought along the way.

So that being said here are 7 things you are going to need in your freshman dorm.

#1 (Silicon) Ice Cube Trey

Preferably silicon so it's easy to pop out the ice. You might not think you need one (I didn't) but trust you do, and it's way easier to pop the ice out of a silicon tray as opposed to a plastic one (shop on target.com).

#2 - Brita

The real walk of shame is waddling down the hall half asleep @2 am to fill up your water bottle. Avoid that by having a Brita in your room. You don't have to keep it in the fridge, but if you want to ensure it will fit get a mini one (shop on target.com).

the tumblers

#3 - Cups for Friends

aka Drinking Cups. When I was at Costco shopping for move in I bought a 12 pack of plastic tumblers. These ended up being the perfect cups when we had friends over. We mainly used them for pre gaming, "wine" Wednesday, or just when someone was thirsty. I could not find the set I got from Costco online, but they sell the same ones in a 9 pack on Amazon.

#4 - DayQuil/NyQuil

The freshman/frat flu hits hard, but this stuff will cure it instantly. Be prepared and have it on hand (shop on target.com - generic - on brand).

#5 - Shower Shoes (with holes)

You 100% need shower shoes but these are the best. The holes in the bottom of the flip flops allow the water to drain through. So when you stand on the drain the water drains through you shoes and doesn't flood the shower (shop on Target.com)

#6 - Slippers

I never used slippers at home, but I never walked anywhere in my dorm without them. They're perfect for when you need to leave the room but don't want to put on shoes, like when going to the bathroom, water fountain, or to someone else's room on the hall. And for walking around in your own room when it's been a minute since you cleaned the floors (shop on Ugg.com).

#7 - Broom or Swiffer

Especially if your room has laminate floors. Dirt piles up quicker then you would think. Then it gets on your feet and in your bed, ew (shop on taget.com - broom - Swiffer)

When it comes to dorm living, these few simple things will change the game.
