The Trendy Room
2000's babies know...Y2K is making a comeback
Characteristics. This aesthetic is mainly characterized by vibrant colors, photo collages, and neon signs. While this vibe does have a few key elements, no two rooms look the same. When creating the trendy room personalization is everything.
Vibrant Colors. Here it's all up to you, the colors featured in the room and the amount of them. Rooms can be covered in color or contain a few staple accent pieces. More color helps create the trendy/Y2K feel in the room.
Photo Collages. The perfect way to decorate your wall without having to think about it. These collages can be created with a few larger prints (shop on Redbubble - Etsy - Dormify) or a bunch of smaller prints (shop on Amazon - Etsy). There is also the option of using a single print wall paper (shop on Dormify).
Neon Signs. Shapes, phrases, custom signs. They look great on walls and help tie the room together. Typically a cute shape (ex: lightning bolt or a cute phrase (ex: Good Vibes). LED strip lights serve a similar purpose and look great on their own or can be added in addition to a neon sign.
The Cozy Room
A comfortable and welcoming space that is easy to maintain
Characteristics. This aesthetic is created through a cozy looking bed and a space that feels and looks comfortable. The bed screams cozy with throw pillows and blankets
Colors. Keep it simple by picking a few colors that look good together and add some white or light gray to keep a balance. A clear color scheme helps create a welcoming and stress free vibe.
Bedding and lots of it. It’s simple really just pick whatever looks comfy. A few extra throw blankets not only look cute but are great for the hotter nights (Shop on Dormify - Bed Bath and Beyond - Target). Decorations. Really any type of wall decor works with this aesthetic. The main thing is that the wall decorations fit the color scheme to keep the peaceful look of the room. A few recommendations would be LED strip lights, posters or prints (from the trendy room), photo, and greenery (from the fresh room). Finally a few extra fold out chairs fit the cozy vibe and are great for when you have friends over (shop on Amazon - Target).
The Fresh Room
For that simple and clean feel
Characteristics. This room has a simple and minimalistic look. It requires a bit more maintenance since a main component of the aesthetic is the rooming being clean and tidy.
Light Colors. The color scheme is mainly white with accents of pastel colors. The fresh feel is created with minimal and/or light color(s).
Greenery helps create a fresh feel. Fake vines can be hung in all kinds of ways to make the room your own (shop on Amazon - Target - Dormify) Fake plants add the vibe of the room, keep maintenance low, and look great on a hanging shelf (shop on Dormify - Target).
Wall Decor. Hanging up your photos is a great way to personalize the room while keeping the decor simple (print at snapfish - Walgreens - CVS). String lights look great when mixed with greenery or photos (shop on Dormify - Target). Woven hanging wall decor also adds to the fresh and clean look of the room (shop on Google).
The Southern Charm Room
The only way to describe this aesthetic is, "the girls that get it, get it."
Characteristics. This theme is known for having identical sides with both roommates decorating their sides almost exactly the same, but this is not a requirement. With a strict color scheme and some decorations you can create the perfect southern charm room. These rooms tend to have so much decorations they don’t look like dorm rooms.
Color. A strict color scheme easily ties the room together. The scheme is typically one or two pastel colors and a white or light gray to balance them out.
